Description
The California Natural Resources Agency (Agency) mission is to restore, protect and manage the state's natural, historical and cultural resources for current and future generations using creative approaches and solutions based on science, collaboration, and respect for all the communities and interests involved. The mission is accomplished with the coordination and work of six departments within the Agency: Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE); California Conservation Corps, Department of Conservation, Department of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Department of Water Resources, as well as 20 boards, commissions, and conservancies.
Under the general direction of the Secretary for Agency, the Undersecretary administers sensitive and complex policy issues for the Secretary. The Undersecretary directs Agency staff concerning policy and operational issues of the Agency.
