Description

The Central Valley Flood Protection Board serves to control flooding along the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers and their tributaries in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The board maintains the integrity of the existing flood control system and designated floodways through the Board’s regulatory authority by issuing permits for encroachments. The Board at all times shall enforce on behalf of the State the erection, maintenance and protection of such levees, embankments and channel rectification as will, in its judgment, best serve the interests of the State. The Board has no power, jurisdiction, authority or control over the construction, operation or maintenance of the Central Valley Project or any part of it.
