Under the direction of the Secretary of Natural Resources, the Deputy Secretary for Communications will advise the Secretary and staff on public relations and news media aspects of programs and policies. The incumbent will serve as the principal spokesperson for the Secretary and Agency to the news media and public; select appropriate people within the Agency or Departments to discuss issues related to news media or the public; address special interest groups concerned with Agency programs. The Deputy Secretary will coordinate and evaluate public information and public affairs programs of departments within the Agency to ensure that these programs reflect Agency policies, as well as advice Department Directors and information officers.
