Description
Under the general direction of the Secretary and Undersecretary of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency, the Deputy Secretary provides strategic leadership and oversight of policies, programs, and regulatory matters affecting the consumer protection regulatory departments in the Agency. The Deputy Secretary is responsible for the formulation, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of state and federal law, policies, and guidance related to licensing, regulation, and enforcement. The Deputy Secretary’s portfolio includes the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI), Department of Cannabis Control (DCC), and California Horse Racing Board (CHRB). The position serves as a key advisor to the Secretary and Undersecretary and coordinates responses to emerging issues impacting industries, consumers, and the departments under BCSH.
