Under the general direction of the Director and Chief Deputy Director, the Deputy Director of Communications, with a significant level of independence, addresses difficult, sensitive, and complicated issues requiring interaction with program areas; develops and implements strategies for increasing public awareness of the functions and accomplishments of the Department; and researches and analyzes facts on which decisions or recommendations may be based.
