The California Arts Council (CAC) aims to encourage public participation in the arts, help build strong arts organizations, assist with the professional development of arts leaders, promote awareness of the value of arts, and directly fund arts programs in California’s communities. The CAC issues a variety of grants to art programs and projects throughout the state to ensure all of California have access to the arts. The California Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate operate through the CAC and the CAC offers a diverse range of art programs such as Arts in the California Parks, Arts Administrators Pipeline Fellowship, Arts in Corrections, California Cultural Districts, California Creative Corps, and Poetry Out Loud.
