Description

The Director of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) provides leadership and policy direction on the medical, scientific, and public health oversight and assessment activities of OEHHA; ensures the office meets its statutory mandates and its directives from the Administration; promotes the development of consistent scientific guidelines and policies related to the assessment of human health risks and impacts from toxic chemicals with the Boards, Departments, and Office in the Cal/EPA; represents OEHHA before the Cal/EPA Office of the Secretary, the Governor’s Office, Department of Finance, Legislature, Legislative Analyst, and interested stakeholder groups and the public; consults with and provides advice to local health officials, other State agencies, United States Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, and other governmental entities; ensures adequate scientific peer review of the office’s scientific documents; provides oversight and general review in the development of health advisories and regulations, and legislative bill analyses and reports; ensures office compliance with administrative requirements; and performs other related work.
