The State Board of Education works to create strong, effective schools that provide a wholesome learning environment through incentives that cause a high standard of student accomplishment as measured by valid, reliable accountability systems. The Board is California’s K-12 policy-making body for academic standards, curriculum, instructional materials, assessments and accountability. There is one student slot on the Board to help ensure the student voice is represented in the K-12 policy-making process.
