Description

The California African American Museum (CAAM) researches, collects, preserves and interprets for public enrichment the history, art and culture of African Americans with an emphasis on California and western United States. They preserve, collect and display samples of African American contributions to the arts, science, religion, education, literature, entertainment, politics, sports, and history of the state and nation. The CAAM Board is responsible for overseeing the museum, approving budgets, and shaping the overall vision of the institution. The members of the Board have long-standing leadership roles as thought leaders in their professional and cultural communities.
